Shabba Ranks is one of the most recognizable names in the history of Jamaican dancehall, a major figure in the late 80s and well into the 1990s. His early career is closely associated with VP, which released four of his earliest albums before his major label break through Epic in 1991. The 1990 LP Just Reality showcased two enduring tracks: “Wicked In Bed” became the emcee’s first signature, defining hit, while “Dem Bow” would play a key role in the “Reggae en Español” movement and the eventual birth of the reggaeton genre.
