The 3LP package in a gatefold cover, featuring stunning photos and detailed liner notes by Dave Hendley, is available again for a limited time in a special edition!
With this release of 36 essential recordings, VP Records had already paid a worthy tribute to the Jamaican institution back in 2004 - After all, Channel One was the number one studio on the island for nearly 10 years (1974-1984) and its productions had a historical impact on music that stood shoulder to shoulder with that of Studio One and Treasure Isle in the 1960s.
Included are original tracks from major artists such as Barrington Levy, Delroy Wilson, Dillinger, Clint Eastwood, The Mighty Diamonds, John Holt, Yellowman, and many more, as well as the recordings of Jamaica's very first 12-inch maxi-single release -- the extended versions of The Jays & Ranking Trevor - Truly Deejay Mix (a cover of the Marcia Griffiths classic) and Queen Majesty, the reggae version of the Curtis Mayfield song.
